Skal comes ONLINE!
Ladies and Gents!
I made a decision a while back to bring Skal to the online world as well as print. It was a tough one, but one particular talk by Neil Gaiman really won me over and finally made me decide that it was a really good idea.
Take the time if you can to listen to this 4 minute talk by Neil Gaiman on why it is beneficial for both the creator and the audience to put your work up on the internet for all to see.
So, I've spent a little bit of time making a site for Skal where I've now published the Prologue, free to read. And I will be putting up my Chapter One pages as and when they are finished. So instead of having to wait for me to finish 57 pages and print it, you can actually follow the story online as I paint it. It won't be to the same deadlines as a regular webcomic, like 'Updated every Monday - Wednesday - Friday' kind of thing, but instead it will be updated as soon as I'm done with each page in my own time. Don't want to scrimp on quality because of stress :)
I'll also be posting process pictures on this blog (there are some sketches in an older blog post), so if you're curious, you can see a page being made from start to finish :D
The site itself still needs finetuning. There's a lot of little bits that I have to work on. Like making the comic navigation prettier and also displaying the print option much more clearly on the side while you read the comic, so you're always aware that you -can- buy this book in print if you like it and want to support me.

Clockwork Watch: The Arrival cover!
I've been itching to show this ever since it was completed a few days ago, and here it is!
The cover for The Arrival, a Steampunk story set in Victorian inspired London. This is the first book of three, which shows early Steampunk. How it all began...
It follows the Ranbir family, and especially little Janav. :D

Let Skal Chapter 1 Begin!
I'm one week late on my schedule because of last minute tweaks needing to be done on another project, but I've finally started drawing out the pages for Chapter 1 of Skal. :D So expect to see more sketches and stuffs on the blog from now on!

Jen is open for commissions again!
Good day to you! *blows dust off the blog*
I have just finished two major book deadlines (more about that later!) and am now taking on illustration commissions as I update my schedule.
In this blog post I thought I'd explain a little bit about what it's like for writers to ask me for help with some designs and paintings.
I've been asked to do things like covers, character portraits, full character designs and scenes from their story.
One example is the lovely Katy O'Dowd who first needed some help to visualize her characters for a book, so she sent me a short description and allowed me to do the rest.
A character design like this helped her during her writing process. Since she explains it all better herself, I decided to just ask her a few questions!
What made you want to commission an illustrator?
"I write to pictures, whatever I can find, usually off the internet or something I pick up on my travels - postcards, and so on. But sometimes there is just nothing out there to suit, so that's what made me seek out an illustrator."
Had you commissioned one before me, or was this your first time?
It was my first time, I popped my writer/illustrator cherry with Jen! I liked it so much I did it again - twice! (so far)
In what ways can you imagine an illustrator being able to help you out as a writer?
It's very inspirational having an image to look at when you write, and when an illustrator has done it to your own specifications it is exceptionally helpful. For example, having a picture of your character the exact way you imagine them can really help when writing them in different situations.

Bayou Arcana deadline week!
