Clockwork Watch: It begiiiins!
Clockwork Watch is a transmedia project that will include two Steampunk graphic novels illustrated by yours truly.
Here's our Facebook page if you'd like to be kept up to date on the project! Click me for the Clockwork Watch FB page! :D
If you like Steampunk or just want to support us, please head over here and donate a little bit! Clockwork Watch - The Arrival
If you donate over $40 I'll even draw your pretty face into the story itself!
Just started roughing out some costume ideas. These are just the very first ones that came to my mind, so no doubt there will be lots of changes and alterations.
Anywhooo, heres the doodles:

Wedding Dress commission: Designs of each part.
Here are the designs of each part of the wedding dress. Some are a bit more finished than others and I still haven't added the darker hues to indicate change in fabric/colour.

The Skal Prologue is being prepped for the printers...!
I have a few pages left to do, like the credits page and the final double page. But after that, it's lil tweaks, some lettering and then zooooom off to the printers!
However! I’m currently deciding how many copies to print on my first special edition run, so I need to check how much interest there is from you lovely people! If you fancy having a hard copy of the Skal Prologue that’s numbered, signed and comes with a lil doodle for you inside it, please let me know! (And if you want that lil doodle to be of your pretty face, just send me a photo of yourself. ... That didn't sound TOO creepy did it? :D) Here's my e-mail: jennie.gyllblad(AT)gmail.com
Because I’m kind of testing the waters here (I’ve never seriously printed my own comic before), I would love to hear any suggestions you may have as to what you expect from a first special edition run and whether my approach to the goodies and pricing is reasonable. I can't imagine the final copy costing more than £10 (Including the postage), but will keep on checking out the printer-quotes I'm getting.
Here's the progress on the potential cover.

A messed up lady may soon be coming to a postbox near you 8D

Skal Prologue is coming together.
I want to have the prologue of Skal done for this year's Thoughtbubble where I will have a table together with the nutty professor Corey Brotherson.
And I'm working on the last few final pages..!
Then I just need a cover and a credits page. Erk. But I'll get there.
Anyway. Here's a preview of what the unlettered pages look like in chronological order. Keep in mind that many of them are still in need of their finishing touches.

SPECIAL SUPPORT THE ARTIST APPEAL!
(In capslock, so it must be serious business..!)

Things are moving fast here with the newest project I'm involved in getting ready to crack on! I speak of course of the Steampunk world of Clockwork Watch. I am doing two graphic novels for this project and am also helping out with other design elements such as costumes and environments (A Steampunk version on London).
As it stands now, I am saving up for a research trip to London-Land at the end of this month and am pulling out all the stops to gather the necessary funds to do so.
SO!
I am hereby offering a special deal for you! If you fancy having a portrait done of your beautiful face, a bit like this fellah:

Or like these people:

I'll do one for you for £8 (and blog it with your consent).
For £10 I'll post it to your home address!
Supporting an artist while getting something in return as a big thank you :D
If you fancy it, simply drop me an email with a photo at: jennie.gyllblad@gmail.com
Or maybe a shared photo on my facebook page: Click here!
Thank you for reading! <3

Comics made while answering interview questions:
This first one is from my Uni days when we had the brilliant Paul Gravett come over to do a lecture on comics.

And this one is a very recent event. Just been drawing Skal a lot. When I get obsessive about a story or a character, bad stuff happens.

Clockwork Watch: Clockwork servant process from start to finish.
Decided to give a clockwork maid some colour!
And at the same time just show my general process from start to finish. This is how I usually work when doing cleaner ink-lines. If I'm doing paintings without the clean lines, I'll generally keep to the rougher sketches and paint straight on them.
But anyway. This is the process of a character painting with ink-lines.

Here we go!
1: I start out with a first rough on some regular printer paper. These are generally very quick and scribbly sketches. Done with 0.5 HB lead. Rarely use erasers at this point.

2: With the rough sketch done, I lightbox it for the first time to get the slightly cleaner lines down. Still on printer paper and still using 0.5 HB lead.

3: That cleaner rough is then lightboxed again onto the watercolour paper (I believe I'm using Saunders watercolour paper here). Still only pencil, but I ink over the pencil lines with various ink pens and then erase the pencil underneath.

4: Finally I apply the watercolour and keep it relatively simple.

Done!

Skal remake: Prologue page.
I've had to place many graphic novel pages on the backburner recently because of stuff happening IRL, but am getting back to it now slowly.
Here's another page from the remake of Skal. Some pages are very similar to the original ones, just re-painted.
