Linework for next week's Skal...
... Might explain why the update could be delayed a day or so.
I'm gone tomorrow, so the only time I have to paint this is on Sunday :P

So.. Err. We'll see how it goes! But this is a heads up that it might be delayed. Sorry :(

Bayou Arcana: Princess, doodle to test colour.
Currently just having fun with some colour. Testing to see if it will work.
Think I'm gonna try a white dress after this.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, but then noticed that the scanner might have gone a bit nuts on the saturation. Oh well :D

Cafe sketches.
Here's a part of my local cafe called Jika Jika, before it got rammed with customers:

Here's another part (including Tom :P):

And here's a super quick doodle of a tribal fusion costume in my head:

Portrait commission: First safety scan.
The keeneyed might notice some hints of this being a two part scan, shoved together because the painting itself is too big to fit.
It also decided to scan it quite harshly.

Yayyy. New portrait painting commission!
I won't be able to properly scan it for online viewing until it comes off the board, but I'll take photos to show progress. :)

Bayou Arcana: Princess, reference and no reference.
Still working on the look of the princess. I find it very interesting that if I do a sketch without reference of a subject I'm not familiar with, I tend to revert to a certain way of drawing a face.
Not sure if others notice it as well, but here's a sketch of the princess without a reference:

And compare that with the profile view done after a reference:

A sign I still need to work on her :P

Bayou Arcana: Samuel and the Princess. Size testing.
Trying to figure out how the size difference is gonna play out in the story.
Samuel needs to appear huge, but not to the point when it's not at all believable. :P

And so the journey into Bayou Arcana begins..!
I have earlier mentioned that I am involved in another graphic novel project, this time providing a short story for an anthology. Corey Brotherson is the one writing it and I'll do my best to make my painting match the win of his storytelling. :D
So expect some sketches and other things relating to Bayou Arcana to pop up on this blog from now on.
First up, it's time to start doodlin' characters.

Skal paaaage.

Once again I've been so busy I've had to put Skal aside. And I think it shows in some of the bottom painting. But oh well!
It's still one of my main enjoyments right now :D

RPG illustration(s): A collection. EDITED.
((EDIT: Added the final picture on the bottom))
Well, today's my deadline. I didn't think I'd be able to do the last 5 images in 5 days, but managing it so far. Just waiting for confirmation on the final picture so I can finish it up.
Here's a recap on the illustrations I've done for this company:

Skal page..!
Was two days late with the Skal update due to work taking priority. Always feels like a bit of a failure on my part when it happens, but I just haven't been able to get a big page buffer up yet. :(

Because of the lack of time, the colours are bit flatter than I would've liked.

RPG illustration: Underground.
Bahaha. Sorry for all the black and white RPG posting this week! It's because of the deadline this Friday that my main focus is to finish these images.
I shall explode into colour later on :P
Black and white is excellent for learning how to control lighting though.

Larger version Here.

RPG illustration: Lighting rough.
Doing one of the four last images for the RPG company.
Here's an example of a very quick lighting-mood-thingey-rough to make it easier for me to map out the highlights and dark areas.

EDIT:
Just added some patterny stuff:

This is gonna be interesting to actually sketch with a pencil... Errr. :D
