Belly dance robbers!

I thought I might as well scan it and then leave it, because I didn't feel like I could carry on with it, but it was a fun monochrome study while it lasted!

Some more bad progress photos!

I'm waiting to get my camera-cable thing sorted, so that is the main reason these photos are so rubbish. But yes. Makes it all more mysterious!

...

Hrn. Here's the very beginning of another page from Skal. Good luck deciphering it at this stage :D

Here's a part of a sketch of a potential credits page to be painted for Butterflies and Moths.

And finally, two paintings that I've had to put aside for a few days while handling some more urgent stuff.

Reawakening my Butterflies and Moths arrrt.

Just doodling to get back into the Butterflies and Moths zone, in preparation for www.thecomicsshow.co.uk

Here's a drugged up looking Angelica.
I'm sure she'll get more expression as I get used to her again :P

Poor thing.

Skal: Page 11.

Started using both watercolour pencils, gouache and 2B pencil on top now. Want to sharpen things a bit without using ink outlines (yet).

Really have to get my buffer back! Been so busy with other things that I've completely run out of page buffer. Not good!

First scan: Dance robbers.

Some blurry progress pictures.

Getting back into it now. Hoping to get one of the paintings finished tonight so I can scan it.

I had an inspiration kick the other day involving belly dancers (I knoooow, I knooow. I'm obsessed!).
Having watched some clips of sword-dancing belly dancers, I started designing my own robber-group of them.

It's probably only clear to me, but this is a graceful robbery in progress inside an opium den.

Here's a page from Skal with the most panels I've ever done on one page. Ever.

Obviously a work in progress, currently strapped to a board.

Distractions and the monthly lady crisis!

I spent about two days working on my homepage. Doing nothing else than coding and suchlike. I think the fact that I'm not very good at coding just made it slower. Anyway. I redid my entire Art section and added a new page about my printing.

Art page redone!

About the Printing

Then, when I was done with that, I wanted to get back to work!
Of course the Monthly Lady Crisis arrives, which means the only work I've done today is pretty much this:

Frustratingly small part of a sketch that's gonna be painted as a scene to send off to RPG companies.

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!

Back after having been invaded by Uni friends!

Did a lot of toddling about town, found old book shops and trolled through them in search for treasure.

I found treasure.

I fell in love. But problem was. It was expensive, and I haven't really got a lot of money to spend on other things than food and rent. So I had to leave it behind.

Considering going back today to buy it if it's still there. Cross your fingers folks!

In other news. Did some sculpting while my buddy Rich was here. (check out his blog and homepage btw)

Getting back into the 3d and loving it.

(this is not finished)

Jennie's Print Shop is now open for business!

Finally it has been launched!
My own online shop where I sell selected giclee prints of my artwork:
Jennie's Print Shop!

I will be adding artwork to it as I finish them. :)

If there is any particular piece you think would be suitable as a print, lemme know!

And of course, if you would like your own original commission, just e-mail me: jennie.gyllblad[at!]gmail.com

Woop!

WoW Troll Shaman. Final. (about time!)

Sorry for posting this one lots. Been going through a few safety scans with it... But it's at a point where I'm willing to call it a final piece. (Although who knows, I might pick it up again in a few weeks :P)

WoW Troll Shaman. Second paint scan.

I so prefer it with the splash of colour in the background.

Tribal Belly Dancer. Based on Rachel Brice.

A quick spontaneous painting:

WoW Troll Shaman. First paint scan.

The painting is a bit too big for the scanner, so you can see that the tip of the staff is blurry. Something I'll fix when the painting's due to be scanned again (hopefully because it's finished :P)

Paintings and walls!

Three paintings currently being worked on. From left to right:
Troll shaman, Teacup explorer, Victorian-inspired street scene.

I've also finally begun putting pictures up on the wall behind my drawing board. This is just the beginning. I plan to fill the entire wall :P

Brush holder arrives! And a possible appointment with a weapons specialist!

This brush holder has been custom-made for me by my lovely friend Ellen!

Finally my brushes won't get squished to sheit whenever I do outdoor painting. :D

Happy Jen!

And in other news, I am arranging an appointment with a weapons specialist at my local Science Institution. Hopefully this means I can take photographs. At the very least I will be doing a lot of research sketching!

Silouette preview.

Alright, so getting an inspiration kick at 1am isn't very handy. Had to stay up to get the idea on paper..!

Jen and Chester.

Yes, this happened earlier today. Birds and open windows are a bad combination :D

Regular camera ran out of battery...

... So here are some terrible photos to show the current progress of two pieces:

Teacup explorer has now turned into a more frothy cappuccino cup explorer. Erm.

And I've started the commission of a victorian inspired street scene. If you wonder what the -very beginning- of my paintings tend to look like. Here's an example (sorry about the photo quality again)

Will take proper photos once the painting actually starts looking like a... painting.

Page 8 of Skal.

This was the final crop. The painting itself was larger, but I wanted the focus on the face. For... Obvious reasons :D

Saturday, 4 September 2010

Keep calm and carry on, Jen!

Just photos to show that I AM PAINTIIING. And I will scan stuff and post as soon as it's done. :P

Commission: Steampunk inspired city scene. Research sketches.

Doing sketches of Bath to inform my head before starting the final commission sketch.

The scene is going to be a busy alley/walkway thingey with a small cafe on one side and floral decorations everywhere. :P

Explorer in a teacup. Sketch.

I'm currently doing at least two steampunk ladies who are involved with tea and coffee. Here's a sketch of one of them:
